The Mission

The Mission is simple, yet incredibly impactful: Serve the poor and preach the gospel.

This means something different every day for this mission.

The main way I am doing this is through my school sponsorship and feeding program. Dozens of children live on the streets of Malaybalay City. I am determined to show them who they are in Christ and give them a chance to empower their own futures. For anyone willing, I offer an opportunity to be sponsored in school. This includes meals, school supplies, and any other necessary support.

The doors of my house are always open for these kids. Here, they know they can find a place of love and a place to be fed without judgement and without cost. It’s so important to me that they know how precious they are!

We host a weekly youth lunch/bible study for the sponsored students and anyone else who would like to attend.

Then, on Sundays, we host a breakfast followed by mass.

Other notable ministries include a women’t bible study at the City Jail, where we gather with other women, break bread, and meditate on God’s Word.

We also try to fill the other various needs which come to us. We find ourselves helping mothers, families, and people from all walks of life.

Meet The Kids

shanel.jpgShanel:   He is a wonderful 15 year old with a hilarious personality. Shanel always impresses us with his maturity and smarts. He grew up on the streets, but now is able to live back at home (Praise Jesus)! He drives a cab at night to support his family and still manages to make it to school. He is sometimes pensive a quiet, but he loves to dance. It is his dream to be in a hip hop dance group. He has been in our sponsorship program since July 2016.

twinsKent- John and Kent- Joseph {The Twins}: These guys may be nearly identical, but their personalities could not be more different. Kent- John is extroverted and outgoing, while Kent- Joseph tends to be more quiet and process things internally. Don’t let Joseph’s quiet nature fool you, though! When he does have something to say, it’s usually thoughtful and brilliant. Kent- John loves magic tricks and practical jokes. They have both been in our sponsorship program since July 2016.

DietherDiether: When we met Diether, he was still living on the streets. At first, he moved in with some friends of ours, but now his mother has returned home and he is able to live with her! Diether has a huge heart and loves BIG. He lights up when you affirm him, and he loves school. He is always eager to show us his school work and his teachers have so much good to say about him. He is also hysterically witty, always making unexpected jokes. He has been in our sponsorship program since July 2016.

Beboy: This 14 year old kid is still living on the streets with no foreseeable way for that to change soon. Despite his very rough circumstances, his joy is HUGE! He always finds something to laugh at and never fails to brighten up a room. And, although he sleeps on the streets, he rarely misses a day of school. He is so thankful for the chance to get educated and sincerely hopes for a better life. He has been sponsored since August 2017.

Mother Theresa once said, “Some give by going, others go by giving.” God has called me to ‘give by going’. However, these two go hand in hand. No one can ‘go’ if there are not generous hearts willing to give. As such, I cannot embark on God’s mission alone. I am extending a gentle invitation for you to help me share the faces, names, and stories of the poor, who deserve so much justice. Sincerely, the greatest contribution you can make to my mission is prayer. I desperately need those willing to pray for the poor, my mission, and my health and wellbeing.

That being said, as missionaries, we rely on mission partners for financial gifts. Our living expenses must be met, as well as plane tickets, visa fees, and alms for the poor. These alms often include tuition, medical bills, food for the hungry, clothes for the naked, and all their basic needs. While in the Philippines, I witnessed our missionaries there provide for these and so many other physical and spiritual needs of those they served.

Family Missions Company makes it possible to make a recurring monthly gift of any amount. One-time gifts are also a possibility and much appreciated. Just know that the greater the gift the more lives we can touch. Every size gift can impact a life because in many countries, a little can go a long way. I ask you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to enter into this mission with me if for a day, a month or for the duration of my journey. Please remember that I cannot fulfill the mission of God’s wonderful love without help!
